I'll be making the famous (in my family)....
Molly Longstaff's Ginger Cake:
Molly Longstaff's Ginger Cake:
1 small cup butter (100g)
3/4 cup sugar
2 large tablespoons Golden Syrup
1 egg
2 cups sifted Plain Flour with 1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 dessertspoon ground ginger
1 cup milk with 1 teaspoon carb. soda
A few raisins, dates, preserved ginger and whatever you feel . I usually add walnuts or pecan nuts too. Small amount of crushed cardamon seeds is nice too too. Not too much though, it's strong.
Method:
Cream butter and sugar. Add Golden Syrup, then egg, milk and flour.
Bake at 180 degrees for approx. 1 hour.
YeeeUm!
I promised to make it last time, but things got out of hand... this time, no excuses!
Just checking to see if I can comment! Note to self: Don't forget to leave the butter out to soften and be sure there are enough eggs in the basket.
ReplyDeleteI'll be there
ReplyDeleteHeh, I can comment. If you can't comment, make sure you have third party cokkies enabled in your browser
ReplyDeleteRobyne, make sure you have your butter and eggs, the cake sounds delicious and you have bribed us all to turn up on Saturday with the enticement of your cake. :)
DeleteSorry guys, but I'm down with a nasty cold (girl cold / man flu) and unfortunately, Sadie, myself and the cake will not be there! So sad. We were all looking forward to it. I have fresh eggs, softened butter and a pile of to-do's...
ReplyDeleteI hope you are feeling a bit better today Robyne. Sorry you had to miss the hook-in.
ReplyDeleteWe had a lovely day with five of us present. We missed your smiling face though. Hope Sadie wasn't too upset. :)
